MARYLAND STATE FAIR
ATTN MABA MEMBERS:
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR THE WEEEKEND OF AUGUST 30/31 and SEPTEMBER 6/7. The U-Learn Center is jam-packed with families and people of all ages. Our volunteers from the Aug 23/24 weekend report many people were interested in learning about alpacas and their fiber.
Tilly has arranged for FREE pen space for people who want to bring their animals (free hay, too). A FREE opportunity to showcase your farm and farm store. Really. There are over 500,000 (that's half a million) people who attend the fair over the 3 weekends.
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO MAN THE MABA BOOTH AND PROVIDE INFO TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. This year, Tilly managed to get us a spot near the entrance to the U-Learn Barn so we have plenty of exposure.
Please, please get involved! We always need people to answer questions and promote our unique industry. So if you have a few hours to spare over the next weekends, please let Tilly know (410-591-0691).
2025 Maryland State Fair Llama and Alpaca Show September 6th & 7th - The Fair runs from August 21 - Sept 7 but the Llama and Alpaca show is the last weekend. Please consider entering a fiber art item in the home arts competition. Having finished alpaca items will help promote alpacas and their fiber. Contact Tilly Dorsey at 410-591-0691 for more info. Online entries will open June 1. Walk in entries are accepted but must be at the Fairgrounds no later than August 18th. Needle felted items are judged in the spinning and weaving category. Any MABA member interested in donating yarn or roving as prizes can also contact Tilly. Business cards can be included with the prize. NO STALL FEE for show entries.
